 The Bonnet has been stripped to the metal and primed several times and is at last getting smooth enough . KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The Roof however is a different matter. It has sever damage all over it some of which i hammered out and metal finished but some is too badly damaged to completely remove so it has been leaded . The darker spots are Low spots and the lighter spots are high spots revealed in the first primer and guide coats. It’s as if someone had gone over the roof with a ball pien hammer KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The boot Lid is similar but not as bad as high spots made by things being carried in the have hit the skin . In the meantime other panels are also getting the primer ,sand,Primer,Sand,Primer routine too..

Body up on Rotisserie .

The body is now mounted on a rotisserie so repairs and painting underneath can be done .

left Front of Floor rail repaired .

Left Chassis rail at rear has been patched in the past with piece of Steel Pop riveted in place.

Patch Removed to reveal a large rust hole underneath . A new piece of steel will be welded into place to restore the strength to the chassis section.

25/06/16 Well…. here is a problem that no one foresaw , the drivers side chassis rail is rusted clear through ….and wait ,there is more.:-(

Front ends of Sill boxes are rusted out

Passenger side rusted out , all will have to repaired .

Front cross member behind bumper has been replaced at sometime in the past but never welded to secure it in place ….Not a good idea as it is just floating there.

New exhausts installed to replace the rusted out originals which had lasted since 1972!.

Drive shaft has new flex disc and trans has new shift rod bushes.

The new engine and trans are installed with a new oil pan ,rear and front crank seals. New injectors with new intake manifold gaskets,timing chain and rails should see a nice reliable tow car for the owner 🙂 .New fuel hoses and clamps will connect the fuel system together .

6.3 #2206 has been removed from  my neighbours front yard to go off to her new owner to get the restoration she deserves.

IMG_0053250 S in very straight condition. Been off the road since 2010 due to a minor fault. This is a project car and will require normal work to get registration etc . There is very little rust in the right front sill front and the rear boot box bottom,right hand side. IMG_0052

No rust in the doors or floors!! no dash cracks ,and the MBtex seats are still very good. This is RHD 6,3 #2206 . The engine is incomplete and the drivers side sill/rocker  is rotten but the rest of the car is surprisingly sound but in need of a full restoration .RHD 6.3’s are too rare to part out and i would rather restore this car anyway….. or build a historic racer for weekend fun.

For my own 6.3 I needed a new radiator and had thought of eitherr making a newer one out of alloy but then i found this on ebay..

A brand new old stock 6.3 radiator for .  Not $5000 AUD , Not $2500 USD as demanded for a new one but …………. $275.  Still in it’s original box.

New roof on the workshop!!

Big Surprise today,Saturday 9/05/15. The roofers finally turned up to repair the damn roof. Because the old one was asbestos sheet,the whole shop had to sealed up while they removed every on top of the building. Amzingly it took only 8 hours to strip the old roof off and fit insulation ,then fit the new Zincalume roof.
